Lima (LaMolina) Peru – Week 14

Well this last week was another great week here in La Molina Vieja. Every week is so amazing. To have the opportunity to see people change their lives and become disciples of Jesus Christ! This last week was another great week here in our area! We were able to have the baptism of John and his confirmation. So, my comp and I are very happy about that. We are very blessed from the Lord for helping us make our companionship goal. We made the goal at the beginning of the month of 7 with only 6 people that we expected to have baptized. And as the month went on we were able to find out the John wanted to get baptized as well. And so, as we put our faith in the Lord we were able to be blessed with one more person who wanted the blessings of being a member. So, we will definitely keep that in mind as we're making our companionship goal for the month of April. As we desire more we will receive more if we are doing the correct things and we are obedient and work with diligence.

This last week we had interviews and so my comp and I went with Sister Amato to go and do room inspections. So that was pretty fun! Then we also had a meeting with all the DL's and ZL's and President spoiled us a little bit! He went and bought Krispy Kreme doughnuts. They were sooooo good, that was the first time that I'd had them in a very long time! The other pics are from our baptism that we had!

Have a great week! I love you all!

Lima (LaMolina) Peru – Week 13

Hola!

Well this last week has been incredible! It truly has been one for the books. We were able to have lots of success in our area and in the zone. And my comp and I have been able to find some great people for the month of April.

On Friday night we had a family home evening with the whole zone and our investigators and it was a big success. We asked a lady that we were teaching (one of the people that got baptized on Saturday) to share her testimony about the BOM and let’s just say wow. It was the best testimony that I have heard any investigator share. It brought a lot of people to tears because the spirit was so strong. That just shows how strong her testimony was before she even got baptized! It was absolutely amazing! There is a picture included of the FHE while we were playing a game.

Then our baptism on Saturday. My companion and I were so blessed to be able to be there and to have had the opportunity to get to know these people. We were able to have 6 baptisms. 4 from the Tuisima family and then 2 from the Avalos family. Oh, and an 8-year-old girl from the ward that had her baptism with ours. She was the last to be baptized and I was in the baptismal font last, so I baptized her. Let’s just say her name was really hard for me to memorize..... So, I had the Bishop write it on a paper and then just read it! And it was great to see the father of the family baptize his 2 kids. After 15 years or so of being inactive they came back to church and he did the things necessary to be able to baptize and confirm his kids. So now they are a big happy family active in the church! And now we're working with them to go to the temple to do baptisms for their ancestors.

Now we are teaching the brother of the mom of the Avalos family. And at first, he didn't even believe in God. But as he has been able to do the things that we have invited him to do he has felt the spirit and knows that we have a living prophet and now wants to be baptized! He will be baptized this weekend! It is so amazing how the hand of the Lord can change people’s lives if they permit it. I know without doubt in my heart that if people just do one thing they can get over whatever doubt or difficulty that they have with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is all explained in a small passage of scripture that changes lives if it is put into practice.

3 Behold, I would exhort you that when ye shall read these things, if it be wisdom in God that ye should read them, that ye would remember how merciful the Lord hath been unto the children of men, from the creation of Adam even down until the time that ye shall receive these things, and ponder it in your hearts.

4 And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

5 And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things.

Moroni 10:3-5

I invite all of you that may have a doubt about the BOM or the Church of Jesus Christ to follow the example of these scriptures and I know that the answers can be found in this way. Because every single time if an investigator says to us that he doesn't believe that these things are true we ask if they have really earnestly asked and always they say no. The only way that we can know is by asking our Father in Heaven.

Well this is all that I have for this week. I hope that you all have an amazing week! I love you all!

Lima (LaMolina) Peru – Week 12

Hola mis queridos amigos y familia. Como están? Espero que se encuentren bien y que estén gustando el clima de primavera. Porque estoy derritiendo acá. Estoy listo por invierno otra vez.

This last week has been supppper great here and this week to come will be even better! My comp and I will be blessed to have 6 baptisms! We are very excited for this. We have worked very hard and have had lots of help from lots of people to make this happen. So, a family of 4 will be getting baptized, a mom and 3 kids, and then 2 others from a less active family that returned to the church. So, it'll all be really great! The brother of the less active member has been listening to the lessons that we've been giving and now he also wants to get baptized. Because at first, he really didn't want much to do with us. He liked to talk with us but didn't really have an interest to the things that we were saying. But as the time went on he has really liked the message that we have and has felt the spirit. Last Monday we had a family home evening with President Amato and his family and we talked about having a modern-day prophet and he loved that. So, after that he has showed lots of interest to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Oh, my comp and I don’t have transfers and so we'll be staying together another transfer and we'll be having lots of success this month and a half! So, the pics that I have are from last Pday, with my father in the mission that went home today, a cool pic of the temple and my missionary tan line! Well I hope that you all have a really great week! Bye I love you!

Lima (LaMolina) Peru – Week 11

Let’s just start off by saying that this last week was amazing in several different ways! We are seeing lots and lots of miracles here and we truly are blessed so much. We were able to have an amazing week as a zone as well.

Yesterday was an amazing day for my companion and I. It was also very spiritual! We both fasted for a specific reason and that reason was to help our investigator that has a baptismal date for the 17th find a way to stop working or find herself a new job. While we were in ward counsel yesterday we were able to come up with ideas to help this investigator to be baptized on the 17th. It was absolutely amazing! This is a great ward and it also has to do with the trust that my companion and I have with this ward here. I feel like we can ask them anything and they'll be willing to help us. So, we truly are blessed to have that trust and to have the support that they give to us to help our investigators that are getting to know the gospel. Also, the family that we are reactivating and teaching their kids are doing amazing! Yesterday was the first time that they went to church in 15 years and they got up to share their testimonies and it was suppper spiritual. They got up and gave such powerful testimonies. Then we went to visit the kids last night and they're really excited for their baptisms.

My comp and I are really excited for this month because we will be having 6 baptisms here in La Molina Vieja. It is amazing how much we have been able to do together and to be blessed so much like this. We didn't have any baptisms here in January or February, so we are making those 2 months up in this month and we're finding some good people for April.

Also, this week my comp completed 1 year in the mission and he really wanted to go to Chilis because we have one here in the zone. So last Pday we went there, and it was really good and not too expensive. I ate some Mexican food. Then after our leadership meeting president took us to a Brazilian restaurant called Rodizio. If I'm not mistaken there is one in Utah like it and it was supper good. I think I ate more beef in that hour than in all my mission. One of the pics is with my Idaho friend Elder Anderson and then we went to a baptism in our zone. The last pic is with my son who was also at that baptism. Well I hope that your week was as great as mine was and if not, I hope that this week will be great! I love you all!
